Xibalba and Disembodied will tour Japan together next March, with the Japanese band Palm supporting on every date.
It is an unusual pairing to send that far. Xibalba come from Pomona in California and built their name on death metal played at hardcore tempos and volume, with lyrics in Spanish as often as English. Disembodied were a Minneapolis band in the second half of the nineties, broke up, came back, and belong to a different corner of the same family tree.
What the two share is a touring circuit rather than a sound, and Japan has quietly become part of it. The country has supported heavy hardcore for decades through its own bands and its own promoters, which is why a run like this can be booked without a festival to anchor it.
Dates and venues have not been announced. Xibalba's last full length, Anos en infierno, came out in 2020, and the EP Aztlan followed in 2023.
