A Skylit Drive have signed to Vaux Records and put out "Half Hearted", the first song from an album called Ashes that is being recorded now and is due early in 2027. Vaux was founded by Craig Ericson, who started Rise Records, so the band are working with someone who watched the scene they came out of being built.
The sessions are with Ryan Furlott, who co-wrote the single, and Joey Sturgis, whose name is on records by Asking Alexandria and The Devil Wears Prada. Eric DiCarlo of Squareup Studios directed the video, which is a performance piece shot in a room with a brick wall and a lot of blue light.
Michael Jagmin says the song is where the album started: "It marked the beginning of working with co-writer and producer Ryan Furlott and opened the door to a side of ourselves musically that we hadn't explored before." Ericson, announcing the signing, called the new material powerful and authentic.
The band formed in California in 2006 and put out five albums between 2008 and 2015, from Wires...and the Concept of Breathing to ASD. Ashes will be the sixth, and the first in twelve years.
