Algor Mortis release The Art of Suffering tomorrow, 14 October, on Bereave in God Records. The CD is a limited edition of a hundred copies, which for a brutal death and beatdown band out of Melbourne is less a scarcity tactic than an honest print run.
Ten tracks: "Lifeless", "Harvest", "Lead Filled", "Flower of Flesh", "Spiritual Dismemberment", "Angel Guts", "The Room Has No Mirrors", "Pig", "Inner Beauty" and "Entrophy's Lullaby". The fourth of them already went out this year with a video on the label's channel, so the record is not arriving unheard.
The song titles do most of the work of telling you what this is. Beatdown bands name tracks the way a flyer names a fight, and the slam end of Australian death metal has been one of the healthier corners of it for a decade now.
This is the band's first full length to carry a label, and a hundred CDs is what that looks like at this level: the music goes everywhere digitally and the physical run is for the people at the shows.
