Artificial Brain have announced Antillia for 13 November through Profound Lore, and two of the five people making it are new.
Mike Paparo, who sings in Inter Arma, has taken the vocals. Alex Tomlin of Battlemaster is on drums. They join Dan Gargiulo and Samuel Smith, who founded the band, and guitarist Oleg Zalman, and the whole operation has moved to Richmond, Virginia.
Samuel Smith picked the first song, Quantum Malignancies, for what it shows about both halves of that. “I think this song is a good reflection of both the change and continuity in our sound,” he says, and then credits the difference to the new pair and to the mix: “Ian's mix and the contributions of our new members, Mike and Alex, have imbued this material with a new sense of immediacy.”
One thing has not changed at all. Paulo Paguntalan of Miasmatic Necrosis opens the song with a guest vocal, as he has on every album the band has made.
Nine tracks, and the band call it the shortest and most aggressive thing they have done, with the dense death metal and the winding black metal melodies still where they were.
