As I Lay Dying have released The Cost To Stay, with a video directed by Tom Flynn, from the self titled album due on 5 February.

The singles are arriving quickly, and there is a reason for that beyond the usual campaign. This band recorded twelve songs, wanted ten, and asked the audience which two to drop, which means every piece put out now is also a ballot paper.

Calling the ninth record by the band's own name is the other half of the same gesture. A self titled album this late is a claim about what the group is now, made by a line-up that has turned over almost completely in the last two years.

Whether any of that convinces anyone is a separate matter, and it is the one the songs have to answer. The Cost To Stay has a title that reads like an argument about exactly that.

The album arrives on 5 February.
