Carnifex have put out a video for The Process Of Pain, with Chaney Crabb of Entheos singing on it, the same day More Than Misery arrived.
It is the one guest on the record and the one song that got a film. Everything else on the album went up as audio, which makes the choice a statement about where the band think the centre of it is.
Crabb is an interesting person to hand a Carnifex song to. Entheos are technical and restless where this band are blunt, and her voice works through precision rather than weight, so the pairing pulls the track somewhere the other nine do not go.
The album is the ninth, ten songs ending on the single that introduced it, and it is out now through Sumerian.
Nineteen years in, and the band still put the softest thing they have at the centre of the hardest record.
