Comeback Kid have released Shedding Season with Spiritbox's Courtney LaPlante on it, the day before Chosen Hell arrives.
Andrew Neufeld says he dismissed the idea when it was first put to him, which is the honest version of how most guest spots nearly do not happen. He changed his mind and got in touch, and LaPlante recorded her part while Spiritbox were in Toronto.
The connection goes back a long way. Spiritbox played one of their early shows with Neufeld's old band Sights and Sounds and with Misery Signals, and both camps were friends with Bill Crook, who died in 2023.
What she does on it is not what she is known for. The melodic side that carried Spiritbox to arenas is absent, and the passage is the heaviest on the record.
It is the second guest on the album after Brendan Garrone of Incendiary, and the whole thing lands tomorrow through SharpTone, eleven songs recorded with Will Putney.
