DeathAwaits have a second song out from French Bulldog Invasion, and this one has a guest on it. Royal Canine brings in Sven de Caluwe of Aborted, and the video premiered through Slam Worldwide.

The joke in the titles is still running. The album takes its name from a breed of dog and the single continues the theme, which on a slam record is exactly the right amount of seriousness about itself. What is underneath the titles is not a joke at all: the playing is tight, the breakdowns are placed rather than scattered, and the band has been steadily getting better at the one thing slam has to get right, which is weight without sludge.

De Caluwe is a sensible guest for this band to reach for. Aborted have spent thirty years making extremity sound precise, and a voice that cuts through a mix like his is what a slam track needs when the guitars occupy the whole floor.

The album comes out on 22 January. Two songs in, the French bulldogs are holding up.
