Devour Lock Ravenous Behind a Halloween Horror Story

Devour are not streaming anything from Ravenous. According to Thrashocore, which reported it in its digest for today, the songs unlock instead as the listener plays through a horror story where the reader is the hero, and the story opens tonight for Halloween at devour.fr.

It is a small idea and a sharp one. A brutal death record from a band this far underground has no realistic path to a playlist, so the usual pre release single competes with everything and wins nothing. A thing people have to work through gets talked about by the people who worked through it, which is the only distribution a band at this size actually owns.

The timing is the other half. Halloween gives the format a reason to exist beyond novelty, and a French brutal death band putting a horror narrative out on 31 October is not stretching for the connection.

The album was announced for 4 January through Amputated Vein, with eight tracks. The band formed in 2011 under a longer name and shortened it this year.

How many songs open tonight, and how many stay locked until January, has not been said.
