Distant have released Into Despair, the title track of the album Century Media put out tomorrow, and the sixth song from it to go public.
Six singles from one record is a campaign rather than a trickle, and it is how a deathcore band builds a following now: more than half the album is heard before anyone pays for it, and the people who turn up for the tour already know the words.
The tour is the other half of the plan, and it is a long one. Twenty six nights from Dallas on 16 November to Orlando on 17 December, with Heavy//Hitter, Katywentmissing, Torn Open and Squelching on the bill, through Texas, the west coast, the Rockies, the midwest and back down the east coast.
Saving the title track for last is the one restrained decision in the whole campaign, and it means the song has to carry the record's name on its own with the album out in a few hours.
The Dutch band's first album came out in 2017 and nobody outside the genre noticed. This one goes out on a major label's metal imprint.
