Electric Callboy have recorded a version of You Say Run, the piece Yuki Hayashi wrote for My Hero Academia, and they made it with Hayashi rather than around him. It is part of a soundtrack marking ten years since the anime's first season.
That detail matters more than it sounds. A band covering an anime cue is a merchandising exercise; a band tracking vocals over an arrangement the original composer signed off on is a collaboration, and the credits here say the second thing.
“The melody of You Say Run is so powerful and uplifting,” says Nico Sallach. “Working on this track was pure fun.” Kevin Ratajczak calls it an opportunity the band were beyond excited to get. Hayashi, for his part, describes the result as a sound born from the intersection of their shared energy.
The band's next British dates are in January 2027, starting at Co-op Live in Manchester on the 23rd and running through Nottingham, Bournemouth and Cardiff.
