Extinction A.D. have covered "Feed My Frankenstein". The Alice Cooper original is from 1991 and most people know it from the stage in Wayne's World a year later, which is the kind of song a crossover thrash band picks precisely because everyone already knows how it goes.
It lands at the end of a year in which this band have not stopped. They have been putting out a single roughly every month since the winter, originals all of them, so the cover reads as the lighter end of the same exercise rather than a change of plan.
The arrangement does what this band do to everything: the tempo goes up, the groove that made the original a strip club riff gets replaced by something that moves in a straight line, and the vocal is a shout rather than a leer. What survives is the chorus, because it was built to survive.
It went out with a lyric video through M-Theory Audio, who have been carrying this year's run of releases.
