Hellcowboys have released Your Fear, the second song from Renew, Reborn, Return, which Octopus Rising and Argonauta Records put out on 11 December.
The record is built as one connected run rather than ten separate songs, and the band have laid out the order of the argument. Ghiaccio, Lost World and Your Normality describe a society where real connection disappears. No Longer and Your Fear sit inside the numbness that follows. Don't Lie deals with the damage other people do. Then Reborn and Return turn it around, and the title is the three stage summary of all of it.
Concept albums about alienation are not rare. Laying out the sequence in the press release before anyone has heard it is, and it tells you the band would rather be read than guessed at.
The sound is Southern groove with stoner and sludge in it, which from a band in Rome has always been a borrowed accent worn deliberately.
Cris Iacovazzo produced it with the band at his own Digital Vintage Studios between January and May. It is their third album since they formed in 2014.
