Mawiza have released "Wuzapiwken", the first song from IN MONGELETEW, an acoustic EP out on 6 November. It is the first time they have recorded without the weight.

That matters more for this band than for most. They sing in Mapudungun, the Mapuche language, and the songs carry a politics that does not need translating; the groove metal was the delivery, not the point. Stripping it back leaves the thing that was underneath it exposed, which is either brave or the obvious next move depending on how long you have been listening.

The four of them are Awka on vocals and rhythm guitar, Karu on lead guitar, Zewu on bass and Txalkan on drums and percussion. They recorded it at their own studio, with Vincent Zbinden and Awka Mondaca producing, Fernando Buhring mixing at Torque Records and Chalo Gonzalez mastering.

Andres Hetzler made the video, which the label calls dark and expansive and which is mostly landscape.

Two albums stand behind this, both of them loud. The EP is digital only for now.
