Prong have released New Commission, the second song from the album Napalm Records will put out, after Fear The Sun.

Napalm describe the record in terms of a sequence rather than a sound, and the order is the interesting part. The Banner opens with thrash that gives way to a wide chorus, New Commission pushes harder, The Uprising brings back the synth driven industrial side this band invented for themselves in the early 1990s, and Uncertain Truth turns melodic before Fear The Sun goes back to New York hardcore.

Laying a record out that way is a deliberate answer to the thing people have argued about Prong for thirty years, which is whether the industrial turn after Beg To Differ was the right one. Putting one of each on the same album and in that order is a way of refusing to choose.

Tommy Victor is still the only constant, as he has been since 1986, and the riff writing is still what this band is bought for.

A static video is the cheapest format there is, which suggests the money went into the record.
