Scarblade have put out two songs with videos, Blind and the title track, and both come from Guardians of Time, which arrived on 30 October through Wormholedeath.
Releasing two at once in release week is a choice rather than an accident. The album is already out, so neither of these is a teaser in the usual sense. They are the pieces the band want people to hear first once the whole thing is available, which is a different job.
Blind is the straighter of the two, built on fast riffs and a melody that sits where Judas Priest and Iron Maiden left it. The title track is where the band place the step forward, keeping the older shape and pushing the production harder.
The band formed in Gothenburg in 2015 around the singer Alicke Kostopoulou, and the debut The Cosmic Wrath came out on No Remorse in 2016. Since then they have worked the European live circuit, including a Skogsröjet bill shared with W.A.S.P., Kamelot and Doro, and reached the final of the Gothenburg Metal Championship in 2024.
Kostopoulou sings, with Johan Bernspång on keyboards, Viktor Heineson on drums, Jorge B'Atz on bass and Josip Markovic on guitar. The record had its date before it had its label announcement.
