Thy Art Is Murder have released Squeeze, and it is the first studio recording with Jerry Grimefeld singing. Tyler Miller left in July.

This band have now changed singer twice in four years, which for a group whose sound is built on one voice carrying a room is the hardest thing you can ask an audience to accept. The first time, when CJ McMahon went, the replacement arrived with a record already written. This time the band have gone the other way and put the new man on a standalone single first, which gives everyone a short piece to argue about rather than an album.

The timing is also deliberate. Four months is long enough that the departure is no longer the story and short enough that nobody has moved on.

They have finished touring for the year apart from three home shows in December: Howler in Brunswick on the 17th, Crowbar Sydney on the 18th and Crowbar Brisbane on the 19th. Small rooms, in their own country, which is the sensible place to introduce a singer.
