To The Grave Slow Down for Limb From Lamb, Which Nearly Missed the Album

To The Grave have a video for Limb From Lamb, from Liberation Front, the album that came out on 2 October through BLKIIBLK. It is their fifth and their first for the label.

The bassist Matt Clarke says it was nearly not on the record at all. "Limb For Lamb is the song that probably changed the most during the recording process. Until it was completed, I wasn't even sure it would make the album," he said, crediting Dane Evans with the lyric arrangement and the vocal that fixed it. "It marks a change of pace from the previous singles: this song is slow (for our standards), dark and heavy."

The video goes where their artwork has always gone. "For the video we leaned heavily on horror film imagery. Our music and our visual aesthetic have always been inspired by horror," Clarke said. "It has always made sense to us to connect that kind of inspiration to the real-life horrors we deal with in the lyrics."

Those are the ones the band are known for. They formed in Sydney in 2010 and have spent sixteen years making animal agriculture and environmental destruction the subject of a deathcore record, which is a harder trick than it sounds, because the genre's default setting is personal. The opener here is called Meat The Humans. Where the last couple of releases drifted toward hardcore, this one goes back to deathcore at its least forgiving, and the five piece is Evans on vocals, Jack Simioni and Nic Webb on guitars, Clarke on bass and Raymond Martin on drums.
