Trivium have put out a live performance of Fugue, filmed at The Hangar, three weeks before Crown In The Grave arrives on 20 November through Roadrunner.

Playing an unreleased song live on camera is a particular kind of confidence. Nobody can sing along yet, there is no crowd to carry a chorus, and what is left is four people and whether the parts hold up without a mix covering them. Matthew K. Heafy, Corey Beaulieu, Paolo Gregoletto and Alex Rüdinger are the four.

Gregoletto has been explaining the record in terms of a narrow gap. "When you get this far into a career, it's easy to rest on what you've already done, or to reinvent yourself just for the sake of it," he said. "With this record, we wanted to find the space between those two things."

It is their eleventh album, and the title track came with a film built out of Japanese theatre rather than a performance clip, which makes this the plainer half of the same campaign.
