Turmion Katilot have released Resodance, their twelfth album, through Nuclear Blast, with a video for "Nae Minut".
Twelve albums in twenty three years, with no long silences in between, is a rate almost nobody in metal keeps up. The Finnish band have managed it by never pretending the formula is anything other than a formula: electronics and a dance pulse under metal guitars, two singers, and songs built for a room where people are moving.
The record was finished a month ahead of release, which for them counts as news in itself.
Mikko Tegelman produced it with the band. What the announcement calls conceptual artistry is the part worth waiting to judge, because a group this consistent only ever surprises anyone by changing something, and twelve records in they have earned the right to try.
The two voices are still the engine of it. Turmion Katilot have run a pair of singers since the start, which is what lets a song turn from a chant into something harsher inside a bar, and it is also why their records work in a club rather than on headphones. Nuclear Blast have carried them for most of the last decade.
