Unholy Halloween filled the Oslo Spektrum on 31 October with Dimmu Borgir, Satyricon and Enslaved, and the organisers put the attendance at close to ten thousand. From the stage, Sigurd Wongraven gave the exact figure and used it.

"I remember very well in the nineties when Kerrang magazine, and I'm happy to call them out, this whole Norwegian Black Metal thing will be gone before you know it," he said. "That aged well, didn't it? Look at you. 9,400 of you and three Norwegian Black Metal bands."

It is the rarest kind of vindication, because it is countable. Three bands from one scene, one arena in their own capital, and a sold out room over three decades after the press in another country called the whole thing a fad.

Satyr also asked everyone not from Norway to raise a hand, and hands went up across the arena, which was the other point being made: the audience for this came from somewhere else as much as from Oslo.

Enslaved used their set to move across the catalogue rather than sell the new record, opening with Fusion Of Sense And Earth from Ruun and taking Forest Dweller from Mið, which had been out for one day, alongside Havenless from Below the Lights and Isa.
