John Matalone has answered. The VCTMS vocalist has published a long statement about the allegations Mike Joseph Clampitt made on leaving the band and about Meredith Henderson, who had said only that she was still reflecting before she spoke.
The part that decides what happens next is at the end. Matalone says he intends to fulfil the commitments the band currently has, and that afterwards they will take time to reflect, reevaluate and reassess what the future looks like for them. That is as close to an answer about whether VCTMS continues as anyone has given.
The rest is a man describing thirteen years of being in the middle. He says Henderson at her best is generous and intentional about making people feel included, and that he has also seen reactions disproportionate to the situation, calling her stubborn, temperamental and at times difficult to be around, and saying he will not deny or excuse any of it. He says he was often the mediator, hearing both sides and carrying concerns between them.
He does not leave himself out of it. Being the person in the middle, he says, does not always mean handling things the right way, and his involvement left people feeling unheard or dismissed. His intentions do not outweigh that impact, he writes, and he apologises for his part. He adds that he does not feel Henderson abused him and does not think she is inherently a bad person, which is a narrower statement than the one Clampitt made and is offered as such.
