Wage War have released Landfall through Fearless Records, their sixth album, and marked the day with a video for Silk rather than with another single.
That is a sensible way to spend release day. God Complex went up only four days ago, so the band had nothing left to tease and no reason to bury a new song under the album. A video keeps them in front of people for the week that matters without spending another track.
Silk itself is the kind of song this band now builds its records around: the hook carries it and the heavy sections are placed behind the chorus rather than in front of it. That arrangement is why they fill rooms that stricter metalcore bands do not, and it is also the reason the purists have been arguing about them for years.
The tour follows almost immediately. The Emergency Broadcast run is twenty four dates with We Came As Romans, Varials and Cane Hill, opening on 25 October at the Aztec Theatre in San Antonio. Two weeks between a record and a headline tour is the window a band wants: long enough to learn the songs, short enough that the album is still the thing people are talking about.
