Grayscale Season have released a video for mov, the last song out before The Weight of Things We Cannot Touch arrives on 20 November.
Two details about how it was built are worth more than a description of it. Richard Sörensen wrote the entire instrumental at home before playing it to anybody in the band, which for a four piece who have worked together since 2012 is a departure. And the producer, George Lever, liked one breakdown enough that it now appears twice in the song instead of once.
Sörensen frames the song as the quiet one with the most going on. "Nuances and details in the guitar playing. It's still pretty simple but there's more going on than in some of the other tracks," he said, pointing to a sample at the end that answers the album's opening track.
The band formed in Gothenburg in 2012 and have stayed independent the whole way, which is unusual for a metalcore band with this much touring behind them: the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands, plus Helltown.
What they do with low tuned riffs and a falsetto has never sounded much like the city they come from. The third song off the album came out as Exit.
