Short Biography
Formed in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2007 under the name Ahaziah, with Alex Koehler on vocals, and renamed Chelsea Grin soon after. A self-titled EP came out on Statik Factory in 2008, and Artery Recordings released Desolation of Eden in 2010, My Damnation in 2011, the Evolve EP in 2012 and Ashes to Ashes in 2014, which reached number 27 on the Billboard 200. Jason Richardson, formerly of Born of Osiris, joined on guitar in 2012 and played lead on Evolve, which added a slight progressive influence and more melody. He left in 2015. It had three guitarists for most of its history and has had one since 2018. Self Inflicted (2016) and Eternal Nightmare (2018) came out on Rise Records. Koehler left in 2018 and Tom Barber, formerly of Lorna Shore, took over the vocals. Suffer in Hell (2022) and Suffer in Heaven (2023) followed on ONErpm. Bassist David Flinn, a member since 2009, is the longest serving, and Josh Miller replaced drummer Pablo Viveros in 2024.
