After the Burial will not play Australia or Japan this year. Northlane postponed the Australian tour the band were supporting, and the Japanese dates could not survive on their own.
"Due to the cancellation of the Northlane tour, we regret to announce that we will no longer be performing in Australia or Japan this year," the band say. "Unfortunately, the loss of the Australian tour dates has made it logistically impossible for us to move forward with our scheduled shows in Japan."
That is the arithmetic of a support slot on the other side of the world. The anchor run pays for the flights, and a handful of headline shows in another country hang off it rather than the other way round. Take the anchor away and what is left does not add up, however much anyone wants to play.
The band say they intend to come back next year with a new record, which is the first time they have put a year on the follow up to the 2019 album. Ticket holders are told to watch their inboxes for refunds from the ticketing partners.
