Angela Gossow has explained how Lauren Hart ended up fronting Arch Enemy, and the answer starts a long way back.
"I know Lauren since she kind of popped up with her previous band Once Human, the first and the second record they released," she told Tori Kravitz on Knotfest's She's With The Band podcast. "And I noticed her because there were a lot of comparisons between me and her, actually, vocally."
What caught her attention was an interview. Hart had said that Wages Of Sin, the 2001 album that was Gossow's own first with the band, was what pushed her towards harsh vocals. "This obviously popped up in my feed as well, and I thought that's very interesting and cool to see."
She is honest about why she was looking at all. "There weren't so many females around in metal, so I kind of followed each and every one of them," she said, and adds that the interesting part is when someone names an influence and then sounds nothing like it.
Hart took over from Alissa White-Gluz. In the same conversation the two talked about touring and about the band's future, and hinted at an album.
