Final Gasp have a song from the New Day Symptoms sessions that did not go on New Day Symptoms. It is called Aftermath, and the only physical copy is a flexi disc glued into the November issue of Decibel.

The band are five people from Boston on Relapse Records, and the thing they do well is sit in the gap between deathrock and hardcore without falling into either. The guitars chime where a hardcore band would chug, the vocals sound like somebody singing in a basement with the reverb up, and underneath it the tempo is still a pit tempo.

Aftermath was recorded with the rest of the album and left in the pile. Decibel's flexi series exists for exactly that pile, and it has a cutoff: the discs go into one print run, and when that run is gone the song stays on streaming without the artefact.

It rounds off a year for the band that was already full. New Day Symptoms was their second album, their first for Relapse, and this is the last piece of the same recording to surface.
