Generation Steel have a video for "Fields of Pain", from Steelmachine, their third album.

Jack the Riffer, who founded the band in 2019 and writes the riffs, is explicit about what it is for. "Fields of Pain is a metaphor for the battles each of us faces in life," he says. "The dark images of war, chains and fallen heroes stand for inner conflicts, doubts and the fight against despair."

The point he lands on is the one the style has always made. "Even in the darkest moments the will to survive and to carry on can prove stronger than fear and resignation."

On the album itself he is equally plain. "With this third album I wanted to take a step up, to let Generation Steel evolve further and define our identity even better. I think we managed it."

They work in the German line that runs through Accept, Running Wild, Grave Digger and Helloween, and they make no secret of it.
