Tumorflesh Rejection have released their first album. Beneath the Moor, the Ancient Dwells came out on 23 October through RUMF Productions, and the whole thing is streaming on Slam Worldwide.

Ten songs, almost none of them over three and a half minutes, which is the shape this music has had since the middle of the 1990s and has no reason to change. The titles do the rest of the work: "Exhumed by Steam and Iron", "Skinless", "Slaughterhouse", "Entombed by Blood and Mud".

One of them is just a date, "29.08.1997", which in a tracklist like this stands out more than anything else on it.

The band are three years old and have put out ten releases in that time, which tells you how this scene works: splits, promos and short runs, traded between labels in several countries, until somebody decides there is an album in it.

Russia has produced a disproportionate share of this style for twenty years, with almost none of it reaching a shop outside the country.
