Johanna Holt Kleive will play her last show with Witch Club Satan on Friday 30 October, at Rockefeller in Oslo. Two dates are left with the original three: Bodo on the 28th and that one.
"It is with heavy hearts, and the most love and respect, that we let Johanna fly off to another journey," the band wrote, adding that more will follow and that they wanted her own words out first.
Hers were written in Norwegian a couple of days earlier. "On Friday, I will be standing together with Victoria and Nikoline at Rockefeller for my final concert with Witch Club Satan for the foreseeable future," she said. "It is within this space we have created together that we have been allowed to push boundaries to the absolute limit."
That is a precise description of what this band do. They have been working since 2021 somewhere between black metal and performance, in a form that depends on all three being willing to go the same distance, which is harder to replace than a drummer.
A fuller statement is promised, and the dates booked through December have not been addressed yet.
