Black Spikes have released a visualizer for MELAS, from Ydos, out now on Napalm Records.
The word means lie, and the band use it for a song that asks whether everything anyone is taught about death might be one. Napalm describe it as the fear of discovering there is nothing on the other side, and what that would do to the way a person treats the time they have. It is a heavier subject than most singles carry and the band do not resolve it, which is the honest ending.
The filming is the other half of the piece. It was shot at the Lifosa chemical works in Kedainiai and at the Republic of Paulava, a self declared eighteenth century peasant republic, which is an unusual pair of locations and a very Lithuanian one.
This is a four piece from Vilnius, together since 2018, with three albums behind them, and Ydos is the first with a label of Napalm's reach behind it.
Rokas Baskys of Lumetri House made the video, with drone work by Evaldas Slizauskas.
