Short Biography
Formed in Fallbrook, in San Diego County, California, in December 2005 by vocalist Scott Ian Lewis and drummer Shawn Cameron. Dead in My Arms came out on This City Is Burning in 2007, and Victory Records then released The Diseased and the Poisoned (2008), Hell Chose Me (2010) and Until I Feel Nothing (2011). Black metal influences grew from Until I Feel Nothing onwards, and Cameron plays keyboards as well as drums. After three shows in December 2012 the band went on hiatus, and it announced its return on 10 June 2013. Nuclear Blast released Die Without Hope (2014), Slow Death (2016), World War X (2019), Graveside Confessions (2021) and Necromanteum (2023). Guitarist Cory Arford and bassist Fred Calderon joined in 2007, and with Lewis and Cameron they have formed the core of the band since. Neal Tiemann became the lead guitarist in 2022, after Jordan Lockrey, who left in 2020. In May 2026 Carnifex signed to Sumerian Records, which will release More Than Misery on 6 November 2026.
