Short Biography

Formed in Blacktown, in western Sydney, in 2006, with Sean Delander on guitar and Lee Stanton on drums in the first line-up. CJ McMahon became the singer in 2009 and fronted The Adversary (2010) and Hate (2012), which entered the Australian albums chart at number 35. Holy War (2015) reached number 7 in Australia, and Dear Desolation (2017) and Human Target (2019) followed on Nuclear Blast, the first of them reaching number 5. McMahon left in December 2015 and returned in January 2017. The music sets death metal riffing against metalcore breakdowns, and Godlike (2023) moved further toward blackened death metal. In September 2023, as Godlike was released, the band parted with McMahon and replaced his vocals on the album with those of a new singer. Tyler Miller of Aversions Crown was named vocalist on 27 September 2023. On 29 July 2026 Jerry Grimefeld, formerly of Honest Crooks, sang with the band at a festival show in place of Miller. Guitarist Andy Marsh has been a member since 2010.
