Bullet-Proof release Scorpion on Friday, their first new song since Cell XIX in 2021, and they say it is the first of a series rather than a one off.
Richard Hupka wrote it and recorded it in his home studio, with Alessandro Gatti on bass and Zeljko Marinkovic on drums, and Alessio Garavello mixed it at Rogue Recording Studios in London. Hupka has been the engine of this band since 2014 and still is.
The description that came with it promises heavier, more aggressive and more modern, which is what every announcement promises, though the part worth believing is the other half: the riffs and grooves stay where they were. Three albums sit behind them on Sleaszy Rider, De-Generation in 2015, Forsaken One in 2017 and Cell XIX, and the band have toured Europe and played shows with Testament.
Releasing singles one at a time rather than saving them for an album is a choice a band without a label behind them makes for a reason, and it keeps a name in front of people for months instead of a week. Scorpion goes up on 30 October.
