Telepathy have put out a new recording of Water Divides The Tide, and it is the first thing to come off Tempest (Redux), the reissue Pelagic Records has dated for 15 January.
The original Tempest came out in March 2017 and has been out of print on vinyl since 2018. What makes this more than a repress is Side D. On the first pressing that side carried an etching and no music. On the reissue it carries completely new recordings of Water Divides The Tide and Hiraeth, so the record gains two performances rather than a bonus track.
"We didn't want to simply bring the original record back, so we completely re recorded the Redux tracks on Side D, allowing us to revisit them with everything we've developed as a band since," the four of them say. What they developed, mostly, is synthesis: the years leading up to Transmissions went into software and hardware experiments, and those are what the new versions apply to ideas they had in 2016.
The band describe Water Divides The Tide as a sci fi western, Ennio Morricone gone instrumental metal, which is close enough to the truth that it hardly needs a visualiser. There is one anyway. Machine remastered the album, Seana Reilly reworked the artwork, and the sleeve is die cut.
